“There is no question around the NFL that Commissioner Roger Goodell and some team owners like Shad Khan in Jacksonville, Stan Kroenke with the Rams and others are committed to expanding the league’s presence internationally and in London in particular. Jacksonville and the Los Angeles Rams are the only teams presently committed to playing multiple games across the pond, while other teams are selected and forced to go by the league office. Clearly this is an initiative Goodell could not institute without the support of the majority of NFL owners, but we are now hearing from a number of teams that not everybody loves the idea of playing games overseas. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh left nothing to the imagination following his club’s 44-7 thrashing at the hands of the Jaguars in London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday, saying Monday, “To be honest with you — and maybe I’ll get into trouble for saying this – don’t plan on going over there any time soon to play again, so somebody else can have that job.””
